Bringing Calm to the Courthouse: Midday Yoga for County Staff

In 2019 and 2020, I had the pleasure of partnering with the Lee County Clerk of Courts to bring accessible, midday yoga classes to some of Lee County's dedicated employees. As part of their effort to invest in employee wellbeing, the Clerk of Courts Wellness Coordinator worked with me to create a series of classes aimed at helping employees reduce and manage stress during the workday — without needing to change clothes, or venture too far from their desks.

Our program offered both mat-based and chair yoga options to ensure that all employees could participate comfortably, regardless of experience or mobility. Each 45-minute class was intentionally scheduled during lunch breaks to create a natural pause in the day — a chance to breathe, move, and reconnect before returning to work with renewed focus and calm.

This experience is part of what drives me to continue partnering with companies, organizations and government agencies. Seeing the impact that these classes had on the county employees was incredibly rewarding. It never ceases to amaze me how small moments of mindfulness can create real shifts in workplace culture. Even just one weekly class helped employees feel more balanced, energized, and reminded everyone that taking care of our minds and bodies isn’t separate from the work we do, but rather, it supports it.

Programs like these show what’s possible when organizations prioritize employee wellbeing. By integrating mindful movement and stress management tools into the workday, we not only help prevent burnout, but we build resilience, enhance focus and encourage genuine human connection at work.

If you think your organization would be interested in bringing a wellness training or a similar, yoga class-based program to your team, I’d love to connect! I offer customized training programs and group classes designed to support sustainable service-based work access industries through intentional stress management.
